Our Wonderful Story | What Really Happened Behind the Scenes
OK, you’ve probably seen the news. Our client, Wonderful announced their $100 million funding round, and the story was... well, everywhere. Over 40 placements! It was a massive, fantastic success, and we were all (and still are) thrilled.
But that’s not the whole story I want to share.
The real story, and honestly, the best part of this partnership, is what happened before that big news even broke.
Let’s start back in September.
We started working with Wonderful the moment they established their business in the Adria region. The mission - build their brand here, with a focus on making a strong team in the new Adriatic hub in Zagreb.
And we had a "problem." (The best possible "problem" you can have in PR).
That "problem" is named Vedran Bajer.
Vedran is, essentially, a PR dream client. He’s the former Country Manager for Microsoft Croatia who spent over a decade working for Google, a long-time startup advisor, an AI expert, and, as if that weren't enough, he also enrolled in a PhD in the field.
So, when he stepped onto the scene as the Regional Director for Wonderful, the media already knew him. Netokracija, Lider, Bloomberg Adria... they all wanted to talk to him. Immediately. And it wasn't just media, invitations for keynotes and panels started rolling in for major events like the Hotel Summit, Career Week at FOI Varaždin, and VRM Days. Immediately.
So, what’s our job in all this?
What does PR do when the media is already calling on their own? Ah, this is the part I love the most.
Our job wasn't to "pitch" interviews. Our job was strategy.
Our job was to make sure every "Yes" Vedran gave was the right "Yes." That every topic and every interview made sense.
It was hours and hours of prep before every inbound opportunity - from those interviews with Netokracija and Lider to keynote slots at the Hotel Summit and VRM Days, or discussions at Bloomberg Adria TV and FOI's Career Week.
We worked together with Vedran (who is truly fantastic to work with, BTW) to make sure every answer he gave, every message he delivered, was perfectly aligned with the core "Wonderful" story.
We moved beyond just "AI" and focused on their real mission - making technology human.
We ensured every talk track centered on deep localization (which is not just translation, but understanding culture) and replacing the digital frustration of "broken" contact centers with a truly effortless experience.
Our job was to be that strategic support that allowed him to be the star, knowing someone had his back and was making sure every message was on point.
And while we were managing all that inbound attention, in the background, we were already proactively booking the next big things - strategic appearances like the Bloomberg Industry Insights conference in Belgrade and The Economist Meet Up in Skopje.
Then came November.
When it was finally time to launch that big $100 million news, we had already done all the homework.
We had spent two months helping to position Vedran's voice as the go-to voice for AI in the region. The media already had him on speed dial.
All we had to do was build on that momentum, navigate a crazy Q4 calendar (seriously, so many holidays and "dead zones" in all of the countries we manage), and give the story under embargo to our A-list contacts.
Those 40+ placements weren't an accident. They were the result of all that foundational work beforehand.
And that huge success? That was honestly just the beginning.
Our work continues. We're still here, side-by-side with Vedran, already looking for the next big story.
It’s not every day you get to work with a client who is changing the game and is also brilliant to collaborate with. It really is a "Wonderful" job.
